Launched by Compathnion in 2016 and with the support of Hong Kong government and key players from the industry, Whereami is currently uprunning in Harbour City mall, Plaza Hollywood mall, Yoho mall, Moko mall, K11 mall, City of Dream (Macau) mall, Hospital Authority of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), etc. We has won the Technological Achievement Award of the 2018 Hong Kong Awards for Industries and Innovation and Creativity Award of the 2015 Hong Kong Awards for Industries.
Compathnion and Whereami are both driven by a team of specialists with solid technology development background, led by renowned industry pioneer Professor Gary Chan. As the leader of the team, Prof. Chan specializes in Computer Science and Engineering in HKUST, with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, minor in Business Administration, Stanford University. Being also the Director of the Entrepreneurship Center and the Associate Director of Multimedia Technology Research Center (MTrec) at HKUST, Prof. Chan spent over 18 years in research, and has gained reputation in both the academic and the industry.
